Trifle Amaretto cake

1 package yellow cake mix or ready-bought pound cake
1 large container Cool Whip
1-7 ounce package INSTANT vanilla pudding
4 Skor or Heath Candy bars, broken up
3/4 cup amaretto liquor
1 cup sliced or slivered almonds, toasted

Prepare the cake according to package directions. Bake in 9″ x 13″ pan. Allow to cool. Make instant pudding (according to package directions), and set aside. Cut cake into about 1″ thick cubes and place a layer on bottom of flat bottom trifle bowl. Drizzle some of the amaretto over the cake. Place dollops of pudding on top, sprinkle with some chocolate bar pieces, dot with the Cool Whip and sprinkle with almonds. If you want more than one layer, divide ingredients up and make layers, following the same order and finishing with the chocolate and almonds.

You can serve this dessert right away or refrigerate until needed. Super simple, but super good. Can also be made with chocolate cake with chocolate pudding. Try adding another favorite liquor, like Kahlua. Experiment until you discover your own family’s favorite! Bo
